Wow, time flies fast. Well, it's been a while since I've posted on this blog and I definitely would have been expected to be open by now but I guess I didn't really know what it takes into opening an online site. Especially, when you are completely computer illiterate it takes twice as long. Well, for the billionth time I attempted to photograph the clothing on the mannequin. We were have issues because we have a plum colored mannequin but being the perfectionist I am, I wanted a nude one. Well I won originally and we covered it with nude fabric, but unfortunately it didn't work out the way I had planned. So end result, is back to square one, with a plum colored mannequin. Hopefully, I can announce an opening date soon but I don't want to make promises...I tend to break them.

No, that's not me! Marie and Alex were our "models" for the shoot. Hope they don't mind being on the net! Hehe, I forget to tell them I was putting this picture up. Yikes!

Until next time, stay chic

I finally buckled down and measured and sized everything for the store! It may not seem like such a big deal, but believe me it was time consuming and one of those things that I kept putting off but finally it is done. Never again will I have to measure so many things again at once. Yay!

Vintage sizing is often times very different then todays sizing, so I measured everything and also provided general sizing (XS/S/M) to help determine if the article of clothing will fit you. It is very important to look at these measurements as there will be a "All Sales Final" policy.

You can measure some of your own clothes, to see if what you want will fit.

Bust: With item laying flat on the ground, measure from armpit to armpit then double the number.

Length: With item laying flat on the ground, measure from shoulder. (Tops)
With item laying flat on the ground, measure from waist. (Bottoms)

Sole length: Pretty self-explanatory, but heel to toe on the sole.

Heel height: Outside of the heel.

Waist: Item laying flat on the ground, measure waist, then double.

Hopefully, we will open very soon. I am trying to hurry with the busy work and get the website done. They say rookies never start on time, well I like to call it fashionably late.

Until next time, stay chic!

*The second top is unsellable as the mark did not come out. I spent time far out of reason trying to get that dang mark out, but I have now officially thrown in the towel. I'm quite disappointed because I was really excited about my luck but I guess my luck ran out.

*I'm currently measuring everything and will begin taking the clothing photos this weekend. We are slowly getting closer to opening day, but I don't want to announce it until I know for sure that we will be opening then.

*Photo shoot: We ended up getting more then half of what we needed from the first photo shoot, and then we will be having another one soon. Don't know exactly when, but things should go a lot more smoothly the second time around now that I know a little bit more of what I am doing. Haha!

Other then that, not a whole lot is happening right now. I need to buckle down and get all the busy work done, I just enjoy the shopping aspect of it more. Haha! Of course, what girl wouldn't? Gotta Run.

Until next time, stay chic.

Saturday afternoon I went shopping and came across the same top I had purchased a few months ago in a different color. The first top is a soft purple and in excellent condition, the second top is light pink and admittedly not in the best shape. It will definitely take a lot of work to make this blouse ready and normally I would pass on such a thing, but I just couldn't say no. I can't get over my luck. Who would have thought it possible to find the same vintage top, 30 miles apart in different colors. It makes me wonder if it came from the same original owner. Highly unlikely? Probably so, but I would think the chances of finding two tops happening the same. I wonder what she was like and what she wore it with, I wonder where she bought it from and what made her buy two. And I do wonder, where the person I bought it from got it from. If only clothes could talk, wouldn't that be something? Oh, the stories to be told. But perhaps its a good thing they can't; I'm sure my closet would have a thing or two to say about me.

Well, today was our goal opening date but we are definitely not ready. It creeped up on us like Christmas does every year. We had the photo shoot on Saturday that went really well, but due to some technical difficulties we are going to have re-shoot. It was so much fun, and a really good learning experience. I'd never been to a photo shoot and it was really stressful planning out the outfits and the concept of everything but somehow everything fell into place. It was crazy hot as well, Shastina I don't know how you wore black all day long! You can bet all of us were gulping down those water bottles, and of course wearing proper sun protection! Hopefully, we will be ready to open with in the next couple of weeks. I'll keep you posted on the progress of everything and our official opening day. Shout it out to Shastina and Stephani, you guys were amazing!

Until next time, stay chic.

I am writing this, while we are still in the process of making MyVintageCloset. The website is turning out fabulously, and the web designer is being incredibly patient with me. "No, I don't want that red, I want poppy red!"

Originally, our goal opening date was April 15 but unfortunately I think it will have to be pushed back a week or so.

I received the picture for the website last week, and we did a quick scan and put it up on the site. Lacey did a fabulous job and am uber impressed with the end result. We still have to do our photo shoot this weekend and I think it will really make a difference and add that extra 'pop'. Major shout out to Lacey and Stephani!

I am having so much fun building this site but I am having issues on deciding the design direction I want to go. I've also never been a stylist before. I mean sure, picking out outfits for my sister and dressing up with friends but for a real photo shoot? The pressure is on.It's difficult to pick something from a pile of clothes you love, which will look great on camera and translate to the computer screen and still maintain the color scheme and 'look' of what I want this site to represent. This task is especially daunting when you don't yet have a perfect direction of the image you want to portray. Do you feel the pressure? But I'm sure I'll find my way even if it involves a few stumbles and maybe even a fall or two.

I figure this blog will be a more personal side of MyVintageCloset. I'm having quite an experience opening up my own store, it's been a dream of mine for quite some time. Of course, I always envisioned a Hollywood hot-spot store front with celebrity cliental daily but hey we all have to start somewhere and who knows where this will take me. I figured you might like to hear about that annoying man at my favorite thrift store who countdowns every minute fifteen prior to closing time. Or the lady I saw the other day, oh boy was she crazy and all the sticky situations I'm bound to get myself into.

Until next time, stay chic.
